José Martillotta was born in Rio de Janeiro.
He has inherited, since he was a small child, the passion for
music from the grandfather, who was also musician. He has attended
the harmony and guitar classes in the school “Rio Musica”
followed by a practical course of interpretation "Heitor
Villa-Lobos" with the Prof. Turibio Santos.
He has started then a long series of private lessons with illustrious
names in the field of erudite music as the Prof. Jodacil Damaceno
and also perfectioned the studies of improvisation of guitar
jazz with the chitar player Helio del Miro (collaborating with
Miles Davis and Chet Baker).
In Brasil he held, as instrument player and solista, many shows
of popular music and in 1985 with his famous group "Libra"
he has recorded two long players "Corre atras" and
"Até quando" which he is author of.
In the field of erudite music he has obtained important acknowledgments
in the "Concurso de Jovens Instrumentistas" realized
from the FUNARTE and presented by the tv Net Globe ( Rede Globo
). From the 1989 he lives in Italy, and he is a member of the
musical group that follows Mons. Milingo in his concerts.
He has founded the musical group " Beleza Latina"
with which he has recorded a disc that encloses most famous
Brazilian hits.
In 1996 he has recorded the CD "Jazz Latino" that
has been presented also in the programation of the radio program
"Notturno Italiano " (RAI-INTERNATIONAL).
In 1998 a new Cd was released entitled "New exits Forest"
(some compositions of this CD has been inserted in the musical
programming of RAISAT).
In 1999, in July and August, he participated as actor, musician
and composer in the television program entitled "Gratis"
on air on RAIUNO.
In 2003 in Milan he was rewarded as better representant of Latin
Music America in Europe, in occasion of 3° the Edition of
" Sueno Latino”.
